Dr. Sue Power

Dr. Power is a clinical, counselling, and school psychologist who has had extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. She has been practising in Thornhill for over 25 years providing psychological assessments and psychotherapy.
Dr. Power has provided psychological assessments for youth and young adults who are struggling with learning, attention, or emotional problems since 2001. She works closely with parents to access the appropriate supports for students within the educational system. In addition, she conducts psychological assessments for students who are planning to attend university or college.
She is respected for her work in assessing children for entry into gifted programs. She is particularly experienced in assessing bright children who may also be struggling with attention, learning, or emotional problems, and establishing strategies to address those problems. She has been employed at Toronto District School Board, York Catholic District School Board and the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre.
She has provided consultation services to parents, teachers, principals and social workers over the years. Dr. Power has been trained in evidence-based psychotherapy approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy to help individuals who are dealing with anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, poor self-esteem, ADHD, or difficulties with personal relationships.
She is registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario and is a member of the Ontario Psychological Association.
