As we move into September, one of the most common questions we get asked is how can I help my child have a successful school year. No matter what grade your child is entering, they will likely be apprehensive and anxious about what is to come.
Starting and staying on the right track and implementing positive habits from the beginning can make a big difference!
Keep on reading for our top 5 tips and tricks for a successful school year!
Stay Organized:
When you have several classes and extracurricular activities staying organized can be tricky. By having everything written down in an agenda you can easily maintain an organized schedule. Breaking down larger assignments and giving yourself smaller deadlines can help with procrastination and feeling overwhelmed.
Avoid Procrastination:
Have you ever realized that when you push something off until tomorrow, tomorrow never comes?
Remember, if something takes less than 5 minutes, do it right away! This can include emailing an assignment, asking a homework question or organizing your backpack and binders.
Connect With Teachers Early:
One of the best things you can do is connect with your child’s teachers right away. This way if you ever have an important last minute question or concern you will know exactly how to contact them.
Get Enough Sleep:
The ability to absorb information at school becomes that much harder without a good nights rest.
If you find yourself having trouble getting to bed on time, try carving out around an hour before bed to wind down and unplug.
Join Clubs and Participate in Extracurriculars:
Last but not least, joining new clubs and signing up for extracurriculars is a great way to make new friends or form a closer bond with existing friends.
